It's really that we are trying to decide what extensions are worth integrating in the core of astroid. When I say in the core, there are 2 major steps involved.
1. Provide HTML overrides for every layout/view of the extension.
2. Write relative CSS to make it look nice and better.
It's something Naveen (Our marketing head), is trying to work out not only with Kunena but other extension developers as well. I am not sure where he is with the process but we will know once he makes a deal with one of the folks and we'll get to work I guess.
If I were to attempt that myself, what would I need to do exactly? Starting point is a template, e.g. JD NewYork, that already works well for Kunena (Helix3 quirks aside). Could I just copy the overrides and CSS from that template to make it work in Astroid? Would I need to modify the copied files at all? I'm thinking references to specific items not present in Astroid.
